How to build and share room lookbooks in Fixture & Finish

Presenting the Vision Without the Chaos

Once selections are approved, clients often lose track of how all their choices fit together, leading to anxiety during the long months of construction. At the same time, custom builders and designers need a professional way to showcase their design capabilities to prospective clients before a home is fully finished and photographed. The Lookbook feature in Fixture & Finish solves both problems by letting you curate a clean, ordered gallery of approved selections for any room—like a master bath or kitchen.

At Foxhall Homes, we use these lookbooks to keep our clients excited during the long gap between making selections and seeing them installed. We also use them as a sales tool, sharing lookbooks from past Bethesda projects with prospective buyers to show the caliber of finishes we build with, without needing to wait for expensive professional photography of a completed house.

How to Build and Organize a Lookbook

Building a lookbook takes only a few clicks once you have approved selections with images in your project.

  1. Open the room you want to build a lookbook for and click the Lookbook tab.
  2. Click Organize Lookbook. The editor will open with two sections: Ordered Items (what is currently on the lookbook) at the top, and Add items to lookbook at the bottom.
  3. In the Add items to lookbook section, click any item card to add it. The card will move up into the Ordered Items section. Note that only approved selections with an attached image can be added to a lookbook.
  4. Reorder the items by clicking and dragging the handle (the three-line grip icon) on the left side of each card. The software saves your order automatically as you drag.
  5. To remove an item, hover over its card in the Ordered Items section and click the Remove from lookbook (X) button. The item will drop back down to the available list below.
  6. When the order looks correct, click Done to return to the main lookbook view.

Tip: The order you set here is the exact sequence selections appear in both the shared client lookbook and the generated presentation video.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I see a specific item in the "Add items" list?

Only items that have an approved selection and an uploaded image can be added to a lookbook. If an item is missing from the list, navigate back to your project items, ensure the selection is marked as approved, and verify that you have uploaded a product photo.

Is this feature used for getting client approvals?

No. Use our design review features to send options to clients for feedback and approval. Lookbooks are designed for after approvals are finalized. They serve as a visual celebration of the room's design to keep clients excited during construction, or as a portfolio piece for prospective clients.

How do builders use lookbooks for marketing?

Professional home photography is expensive and only happens at the very end of a project. You can share a completed lookbook link or export it as a video to show prospective clients your design capabilities and the caliber of finishes you use, even while your active projects are still in the framing stage.
