How to create and share lookbook videos of approved selections
Turn Approved Selections into Social-Ready Lookbook Videos
When you finish selecting the plumbing fixtures, tile, and lighting for a high-end space, showing clients a flat list of products doesn't always convey the design's energy. At Foxhall Homes, we use Lookbook Videos to turn approved selections into vertical video reels that we can text to clients or post directly to Instagram and TikTok. This guide shows you how to generate these paced, music-ready videos directly from your room selections in Fixture & Finish.
How to Generate a Lookbook Video
Follow these steps to configure, render, and download a vertical video reel of your approved room selections.
- Find your song's BPM: Pick the track you want to use for your reel on Instagram or TikTok. Search Google for the song name followed by "BPM" (for example, "Dreams Fleetwood Mac BPM") to find its beats per minute. The software supports tempos between 60 and 140 BPM.
- Open Room Settings: Navigate to the project room you want to showcase. Click on the room's settings icon and scroll down to the Lookbook Video section.
- Enter the BPM: Type the song's BPM into the Song BPM field. This ensures the transitions in the generated video match the beat of your chosen track perfectly.
- Upload a Cover Photo (Optional): If you have a rendering or a finished photo of the room, upload it in the Cover photo field. This image will play full-screen at the very beginning and end of your video. Drag the crop box to select the vertical portion of the photo you want to display. The crop saves automatically. If you do not upload a cover photo, the video will start directly with your selections on a clean white background.
- Save your settings: Click the Save button at the bottom of the settings panel.
- Go to the Lookbook View: Navigate to the room's Lookbook tab. Locate the Lookbook Video card. This card displays a pacing tip based on the BPM you entered, helping you confirm if the tempo matches your desired mood.
- Generate the video: Click Generate video. The status will update to "Video is in progress." The video renders in the background, meaning you can safely navigate away from the page or close your browser.
- Download the MP4: Once rendering is complete, the button will change to Download video. Click it to save the finished MP4 file to your computer or phone.
- Handle design changes: If you add, remove, or reorder items in the room's lookbook later, the video card will display a warning: "The lookbook changed since this video was made." Simply click Regenerate video to rebuild the reel with your updated lineup.
Optional: Generate Social Media Captions
If you plan to post your new video to social media, you can generate written content to accompany it. Go to the room's Social Content settings and click Generate Content. The system will draft an Instagram caption, a TikTok caption, and a YouTube Shorts description tailored to the items in that room. You can edit these drafts directly before copying them to your social platforms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to keep the browser tab open while the video renders?
No. The video rendering happens entirely on our servers. Once you click "Generate video," you can close the tab, work on other projects, or shut down your computer. The download button will be ready for you when you return.
Why doesn't the downloaded video have music already attached to it?
Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok prefer that you apply music directly within their apps using their licensed audio libraries. This helps your posts gain more visibility and prevents copyright flags. The downloaded MP4 is precisely timed to your specified BPM so that when you select your song inside Instagram or TikTok, the transitions will align perfectly with the beat.
What happens if some items in the room are not yet approved?
The Lookbook Video only includes items that have been marked as approved in your project. Drafts, pending selections, or rejected items are automatically excluded from the reel to ensure your client or followers only see the finalized design vision.
